Value of Culture on the relationship between economics, Culture and Arts

Culture matters! Values matter! And, of course, the financing matters! The arts play an increasingly important role in modern society. Creativity is the driving force. A new world asks for a new perspective. This course offers the cultural economic perspective. It introduces new concepts, other ways of thinking that students in a variety of disciplines can apply in their study and from which practitioners in the cultural sector can benefit.

Learn about the economics of arts and culture, about the essential tension between cultural and economic values and about the ways to deal with that tension. Get a primer on basic economic principles if you are in need of one, and find out how the cultural economic perspective opens the eyes for the role of values, and about the special characteristics of cultural goods and cultural organizations. Learn about creative ways of financing the arts and discover new approaches in cultural policy.

This intensive course is entering its 4th edition. We build on experience and an extensive network of participants. We invite you to take advantage of what we have been building.
