The ONE WORLD photo contest is presented and sponsored by TIPA (Technical Image Press Association). This photographic contest is open to all amateur and professional photographers worldwide. The TIPA association is a non-profit association that is represented by photo and imaging magazines from around the world, with the Head Office based in Madrid, Spain. The contest will be promoted and advertised on TIPA’s official website (www.tipa.com), and published in member magazines as well as their respective websites. The contest starts on May 15th, 2012, and ends on July 14th, 2012. The winners will be announced at Photokina, the world’s largest photographic and imaging trade fair on September 18th, 2012, in Cologne (Germany) during the TIPA Awards Ceremony. Winners willing to attend will be welcome. TIPA will not be responsible for any costs incurred by the winners to attend the ceremony.
GENERAL RULES OF THE ONE WORLD CONTEST
All the information detailing how to enter this contest forms part of the terms and conditions of the contest. By submitting an entry, participants confirm that they have read and fully understand and agree to the terms and conditions of the contest, and warrants that his or her entry complies with all requirements of this contest.
CATEGORIES
There are two categories in the ONE WORLD photo contest and both professional and amateur photographers are eligible to enter.
Participants may only submit their photograph(s) in one of the two categories as listed below:
- Amateur Category: In this category participants may enter 1, 2 or 3 photographs portraying the ONE WORLD theme. Photographs will be judged individually, and only one image will be considered for the contest.
- Professional Category: In this category participants must enter a series of three photographs that visually tells a story that incorporates and represents the ONE WORLD theme of the contest. The photographs submitted should encapsulate a coherent body of work that will be judged as a portfolio.
SUBMISSION GUIDELINES
Participants may only submit a single entry via TIPA’s official website and may not submit an entry on behalf of a third party.
Once an entry has been submitted, entrants will not be able to make any changes and reasonable care should be taken during the registration and submission process.
Participants must follow the instructions carefully and upload up to 3 digital images in .jpg format. Each photograph must be 1,500 pixels wide (horizontal image) or 1,500 pixels tall (vertical image).
JUDGING AND RESULTS
Entries will be judged by a jury selected by TIPA and will include representatives from some of the TIPA member magazines. The jury will evaluate the images on originality, creativity, authenticity, technical quality and how well the contestant interpreted the ONE WORLD contest theme. The jury’s decision is final and binding and no correspondence will be entered into.
Winners will be notified by email, and should a winner not respond to the notification attempt within 7 (seven) days, an alternative winner from the same category will be selected by the jury.
The jury reserves the right to award up to five images it considers significant for each category with an Honorary Mention.
Winners will be required to supply TIPA with a high-resolution image(s), with a minimum of 3,000 pixels for the longest side for printing purposes.
No member or any affiliate to TIPA is eligible to enter this contest.

The list of the winners will be available on TIPA’s website (www.tipa.com) on September 19th, 2012.

Photographs submitted by the author (copyright holder) must comply with the theme of the contest. Authors guarantee that they are original works that have not participated in any other contest, have been published or won any prize in any other photographic contest before.
It is the responsibility of each entrant to ensure that all photographs submitted have been taken with the permission and written consent from any person(s) portrayed, and do not infringe the copyright of any third party or any laws.
In case of subjects under the age of 18 years, authors must have the written consent of their parent or guardians. The jury will decide at its sole discretion about any content matter and reserves the right to disqualify any entrant from the contest for any relevant reason that it may consider in contrast with the spirit of the contest or offensive, defamatory or discriminatory. Photographs that violate third party’s rights will also be rejected.
ENTRIES
Only one entry per person aged 18 years or older will be permitted. TIPA will only accept entries that have been uploaded onto the official contest website (www.tipa.com), and third party entries will NOT be accepted.
Incomplete entries, corrupt or damaged image files, or for any other reason illegible, will be deleted. TIPA is under no obligation to inform participants about damaged files nor accepts any responsibility for any loss, damage or malfunction(s) of any sort related to the contest. All entries must be received and uploaded by the closing date of the contest on July 14th, 2012 (11:59:59 CET).
PRIZE DESCRIPTION
The overall value of prizes for the ONE WORLD contest awarded by TIPA amounts to 10.000 Euro.
The winner of the Amateur Category will receive the sum of 4.000 Euro by bank transfer. Charges incurred by the winner’s bank for receiving the bank transfer will be the responsibility of the winner.
The winner of the Professional Category will receive the sum of 6.000 Euro by bank transfer. Charges incurred by the winner’s bank for receiving the bank transfer will be the responsibility of the winner.
Prizes amount is gross and subject to a withholding tax according to Spanish law. Any Taxes due according author’s country of residence are his or her responsibility. The winner will be required to provide TIPA with any additional information required for the prize transfer.
COPYRIGHT
While authors retain the copyright of all his or her entries they grant TIPA and its member magazines irrevocable, royalty-free license to use photographs entered into this competition exclusively in relation to the promotion, results reports and/or advertising of this or any future contest by TIPA. In case of publication by TIPA and its member magazines you will be credited. TIPA and its member magazines can assume no responsibility and are not liable for any misuse of the works.
TIPA reserves the right to place all or part of the photographs received on a dedicated web-gallery. Photographs in the web-gallery will be credited. TIPA also reserves the right to remove and delete part or all photographs from its servers at any time.
PRIVACY
Personal data requested at the time registration (name, mailing address, phone number, and email address) will be used, processed and shared with internal personnel exclusively for requirements necessary to the organisation and the logistics of the contest. By registering in this contest, participants agree on his or her data treatment. Erroneous or false communication related to personal data may cause disqualification. In this event, an alternative winner will be selected by the jury for the same category.
LEGAL NOTICE
TIPA reserves the right at its sole discretion to cancel or suspend the contest in case any problem, force majeure or any other inconvenience make its implementation impossible. Rules and any dispute related to this contest will be under Spanish law. These rules shall be deposited with the public notary of Madrid José Ventura Nieto Valencia and will be available to anyone wishing to consult them, by issuing a copy of them, to any person who requests a copy and is accredited as being a participant in the contest.
