Magyarországi partnereket keres a Föld Charta Nemzetközi Titkársága

1987-ben az Egyesült Nemzetek Környezetvédelmi és Fejlesztési Világbizottsága kiadott egy felhívást egy új charta megalkotására, amely a fenntartható fejlődéshez szükséges alapelveket volt hivatott összegyűjteni. Az 1992-es Riói Föld Csúcs egyik befejezetlen témája volt egy Föld Charta vázlatának kidolgozása.

1994-ben Maurice Strong, a Föld Csúcs főtitkára és a Föld Tanács elnöke, valamint Mihail Gorbacsov, a Nemzetközi Zöld Kereszt elnöke, útjára indítottak egy új Föld Charta kezdeményezést, amelyet támogatott a holland kormány is. 1997-ben megalakult a Föld Charta Bizottság a tervek ellenőrzésére és felügyeletére, miközben Costa Ricában létrejött egy Föld Charta Titkárság a Föld Tanácson belül. 2000 márciusában a Föld Charta Bizottság párizsi találkozóján, az UNESCO Központjában, elfogadták a Föld Charta végleges változatát.

Mi az a Föld Charta? A Föld Charta egy nyilatkozat a XXI. században élő igazságos, fenntartható és békés globális társadalom kialakítását célzó alapelvekről.Célja egy új, a kölcsönös egymásrautaltságra és a közös felelősségre épülő átfogó érzés kialakítása az emberekben, a földi család és a nagyobb életközösség jóléte érdekében. A Charta a remény kifejezése, és felhívás minden emberhez a globális együttműködések kiépítésére történelmünk e kritikus időszakában.

Hogyan lehet bekapcsolódni a Titkárság munkájába?

1) A Titkárság tervei között szerepel egy magyar nyelvű honlap kialakítása, elsősorban angol nyelvű anyagok magyar nyelvre való fordításában várnak segítséget.

2) Az ENSZ Costa Rica-i székhelyű egyetemén található Föld Charta Központja 2012 március elején nyitja meg a kapuit és várja Magyarországról a fenntartható fejlődés, valamint a Föld Charta iránti érdeklődőket. I. We are about the create a Hungarian website for the Earth Charter but we would need some partner organizations from Hungary to help us. Either to translate the basic content from English to Hungarian or even to host and run the Hungarian website of EC.

Please let me know if it can work out with you and I can send you couple files to be translated or you do have some partner organizations that could help us.

II. The Earth Charter International Secretariat and the Earth Charter Educational Center that is UNESCO Chair on Education for Sustainable Development are looking for partner educational institutes from Hungary. Do you have some networks (e.g. higher educational institutes, universities, etc.), list of partners where our questions can be forwarded in order to reach Hungarian partner institutes regarding this matter mentioned below?

Young facilitators and activists, future decision-makers, students and researchers will be trained in the theory and practice of sustainability.
